The basics

What is a folio in mutual funds?

A folio is your account number with a fund house. All your investments in that fund house's schemes can sit under one folio.

How it works

When you first invest with a fund house it opens a folio in your name, linked to your PAN, bank account, contact details and nominees. Later purchases can go into the same folio.

Your Consolidated Account Statement lists every folio you hold across fund houses, with the units and value in each scheme.

Example

You invest in two schemes of the same fund house a year apart. Both show under one folio number, with the units of each scheme listed separately.

Keep in mind

  • Keep the same holder names and order across investments so they stay in one folio.
  • Update contact details and nominees in each folio.

Questions people ask

Can I have more than one folio with the same fund house?

Yes, but consolidating them makes tracking and service requests simpler.

Where do I find my folio number?

On your account statement, your Consolidated Account Statement and in transaction emails.
